Junior and HIARCS take top honours at World Computer Chess Championship.
There were two main tournaments at the World Computer Chess
Championship, an unlimited hardware World Computer Chess Championship and an
equal hardware World Chess Software Championship. HIARCS and Junior excelled in
both tournaments with Junior winning the World Computer Chess Championship
(with HIARCS equal second) and HIARCS winning the World Chess Software
Championship (with Junior second). Thanks to
Intel for support with hardware used during the tournament.
World Computer Chess Champion: Junior
The Israeli program Junior won the 2011 World Computer Chess
Championship without losing a single game. HIARCS and Shredder came equal second
also without losing a game.
Junior impressed everyone with its fighting spirit and an
attacking playing style that makes Junior such a unique and interesting chess
player.
The tournament saw some competitors on some very impressive
hardware with
one program Jonny using 800 CPU cores. The final tournament table can be seen
